Responding to the changing needs of the district, the plan for this complex multi-school project was to convert the existing Issaquah Middle School (now relocated) into three new separate schools which included Gibson Ek High School. The renovation and addition provides flexible and diverse learning spaces. The commons area includes a theatrical stage, lounge area and informal library, all of which opens directly to the exterior to expand the learning environment. The facility also houses the Academy for Community Transition, a program that assists students with developmental disabilities move toward independent lifestyles. |
