Robert Frost Elementary

Robert Frost Elementary School was Cornerstone’s first project for the Lake Washington School District, consisting of a new 59,000 square foot elementary school built in phases immediately behind the existing school. The complex phasing plan provided separate construction access, temporary play areas, and safe walking routes during construction. The new school was built within 10 feet of the old building at the closest point.  Special features included accordion glass walls for flexible classroom environments, an integrated music classroom with performance space, and outdoor learning areas. Weaving nature and poetry into the architecture, the design of this new elementary school pays tribute to its namesake, the American poet Robert Frost.

“It is apparent that Cornerstone General Contractors considers their projects to be most effectively accomplished through teamwork… the people with whom I worked were very personable, honest, and straightforward.”
